Interview with Anne Schelle, Executive Director, OMVC

Hi Anne,

Q: What is the highest wall to climb in order to make the Mobile DTV competitive with the other media?

The biggest challenge facing Mobile DTV is constructing a profitable economic model that the broadcasting industry can embrace. We know the technology works. We know there is strong consumer demand. So, it’s a matter of working out the economics and selling the service to consumers.

Q: What the telecommunication world would had missed if the OMVC was not established? And what is the biggest goal you hope to reach?

For one thing, there is a very real possibility that adoption of a permanent standard for Mobile DTV would have been delayed beyond a sustainable point. When the OMVC was formed and began working closely with ATSC on approving a standard the clock was ticking: we knew we had to move fast to agree on a standard and start moving products to the marketplace. Buy-in from the broadcasters through OMVC was invaluable in speeding that process.

Q: What is your opinion toward RRD USA after more than one year of cooperation?

RRD’s role was indispensable in making the DC Consumer Showcase a success. There are a lot of moving parts in that trial, so RRD’s ability to serve as lead integrator was crucial. They did an excellent job supporting the TV stations involved in the trial and developing the service we provided to consumers.

Inside the Screen

Interview with Gianni Rubin, CEO of Screen Service America and RRD USA

Hi Gianni,

Q: What’s your main goal for the American market?

In my opinion the American market, broadly speaking, can offer so many opportunities to companies like Screen Service and RRD USA, we have product state-of-the-art  in telecommunication , we have an excellent quality and reliability, furthermore we are flexible and we are oriented to our customer needs. These are  the characteristics, that I’m sure the American Market  will appreciate and reward: Flexibility, Solution-oriented and Detail-oriented.

Our products are in the forefront, developed and produced by us.

Q: What is the big plus to combine RRD USA and Screen Service?

The synergy we can generate with RRD USA and Screen Service America’ competences is something that makes us jump off the page compared to so many other competitors, in fact we are able to provide technology, consultancy and formation about all the following areas:

Network Deployment, System Integration, Mobile and Broadcast convergence, Business definition

Q: Your resume shows great things as a top manager: Mediaset, FIAT, Kraft, DMT. What made you pick Screen Service America from the deck?

I accepted this challenge with enthusiasm because  the company is young and dynamic, in constant  growth with human resources and technological resources of excellent feature. Furthermore the United States are a great country  where from time immemorial I hoped to work, where dedication,  constancy, competence, determination, willingness and persistence always rewarded and I’m sure that we will too.
